Midwest Machine, LLC is a versatile company. Primarily focused on the research and development of automated machinery, the majority of our business comes from the high-volume Protein and Dairy industries. We manufacture our own line of proprietary equipment, including automated food-grade saws and integrated conveyor systems.

We also work with customers to create one-of-a-kind machines and solutions to improve specific processes on a case-by-case basis. Just let us know your production goals, and we can design a machine to improve your processes.

In addition to the development and production of complex machinery, Midwest Machine also supplies many local and regional businesses with machined or fabricated parts and components. With a full-service machine shop and fabrication department, we are capable of producing a wide range of components for your business. From plastic to stainless steel, big or small, we can help you with whatever you need.

OUR HISTORY

  • July 7, 2000: Steve and Cindy Dunivan establish Midwest Machine in Amarillo, Texas.

  • Located in the center of the Texas panhandle, Midwest Machine serves the beef, pork, dairy, and manufacturing industries.

  • Accumulates over 300 years of combined experience in manufacturing, equipment installation, custom machine design, automated solutions, and conveyor systems.

  • Since Opening: Midwest Machine emerges as a leader in automating the Protein and Dairy Industries, specializing in custom machine design, automation, welding, fabrication, and maintenance services.

Our 34,000 square foot facilities provides enough room for all of our state of the art equipment including:

We frequently specialize in constructing conveyors, platforms, and complete automated systems, with several new projects currently in development.

Our goal is to meet the demands of high-performing plants and surpass expectations by enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring team safety with cost-effective equipment and machinery.

We are at the forefront of revolutionizing the Protein industry through the development and production of a variety of automated smart saws.

Meet the Team

Our employees have experience in the operation of all of the equipment in house. Most of our employees specialize in a certain area of our shop (programming, engineering, machining, welding, fabrication, etc.) to maximize efficiency. We can tackle almost any job brought to us quickly and efficiently. We pride ourselves in quality work and stand behind each job we complete.

Cindy Dunivan

President

Born in Dumas, Texas, Cindy relocated to Amarillo where she pursued her education at TSTI, earning an Associate of Applied Science degree in Technical Office Training. In 1988, she married Steve Dunivan, and together, they are proud parents to three daughters: Kindra, Kayla, and Kristi. Cindy and Steve co-founded  Midwest Machine on July 7, 2000, where Cindy has since spearheaded numerous financial operations within the company. Known for her meticulous nature, Cindy takes pride in her attention to detail. Beyond her professional endeavors, Cindy finds joy in her roles as "Mimi" to Jackson, Addie, and Mason, and as caregiver to her beloved pets, Coco, Callie, and Jace. She relishes outdoor adventures, from riding Razrs and lake excursions to indulging in her passion for driving unique cars and exploring new destinations.

Steve Dunivan

Co-Owner

Steve embarked on his machinist journey in 1979, marking the beginning of a distinguished career in various industry-related roles. His path was enriched by managerial roles across different businesses, culminating in the founding of his own venture, Midwest Machine, on July 7, 2000. With over 30 years of expertise in the beef, pork, and dairy sectors, Steve has honed his ability to create efficient, top-quality machinery. Known for his love of challenges, Steve thrives on designing and innovating machinery that enhances productivity and safety. Beyond work, he cherishes moments with his grandchildren Jackson, Addie, and Mason, indulges in travel adventures, and finds excitement in riding Razrs during his leisure time.

Kayla Harris

Executive Assistant

Kayla, a native of Amarillo, Texas, pursued her passion for education at West Texas A&M University, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education in 2010. Following several years of teaching in Dumas, Texas, Kayla transitioned to focus on raising her two children, Jackson and Addie. Currently, Kayla thrives as an Executive Assistant at Midwest Machine, where she oversees critical financial operations such as payroll, accounts payable and receivable, and SIMPLE IRA management. Additionally, she manages insurance administration, shop supply maintenance, safety protocols, DOT compliance, and a range of other responsibilities. Known for her meticulous attention to detail and innate self-motivation, Kayla is a valued asset to Midwest Machine.

Kristi Russell

Executive Assistant

Kristi, a proud native of Amarillo, Texas, has always been driven by her love for problem-solving and communication. She pursued her passion for mathematics at West Texas A&M University, earning her Bachelor's  Degree in Mathematics in 2014. Outside of her professional life, Kristi cherishes spending quality time with her family, especially her son Mason. Together, they enjoy camping trips under the stars and days spent cruising on the boat, creating cherished memories on the water. In her role as an Executive Assistant at Midwest Machine, Kristi demonstrates exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. From managing invoicing and shipping to driving automation sales, Kristi's mathematically inclined mind and strong communication skills have been instrumental in the company's success. Beyond her core responsibilities, Kristi is known for her proactive approach to problem-solving and her commitment to continuous improvement. She thrives in dynamic environments and is always eager to take on new challenges.

Rick Hudson

Automation Specialist

Rick’s career started in 1979 when he joined the Navy. He served until 1987 during which time he took multiple classes to further his knowledge in electronics and controls. After leaving the service he worked as an electrician for a few companies before becoming the Chief Engineer at Golden Plains  Community Hospital. In 2001 he started working at Plains Dairy as Chief Engineer and eventually moved up to  Production Manager. While there, he taught himself how to program PLCs and increased production from  80,000 gallons a day to 200,000 – 300,000 gallons a day. Rick joined Midwest Machine in 2011 as our Automation Specialist. Currently, he holds a Master Electrician License and is the head of our Automation department. He is in charge of all the programming and wiring of our automated machines. When he is not working,  he enjoys hiking, traveling, and spending time with his grandkids.

Matt Kiefer

Direction of Operations

As the Director of Operations, Matt oversees all departments within the shop, ensuring seamless coordination and efficient workflow across the board. With 20 years of experience in the industry, he brings a wealth of knowledge to every aspect of the job, from quoting large projects and designing project layouts to assisting in the development and manufacture of machines. Matt's role also leverages his skills as a certified welder, allowing him to contribute hands-on expertise to complex manufacturing processes. This comprehensive oversight and active involvement ensure that operations run smoothly and that the team consistently delivers high-quality results to their clients. In his free time, Matt enjoys playing golf, watching sports, and spending time with his beautiful wife Stacie, and 2 boys: Payton & Braylon.

Matthew Martinez

Director of Engineering

Matthew began his career journey at Midwest Machine as a welder's helper in 2016, igniting a passion for innovation and craftsmanship. With dedication and perseverance, Matthew navigated through various departments, including brake and shear, waterjet, and machine shop, gaining invaluable hands-on experience along the way. His insatiable curiosity and drive to excel led him to the engineering department, where he honed his skills in design, problem-solving, and project management. Today, as the Director of Engineering and a seasoned manager of large capital projects, his diverse experience fuels his dynamic approach to problem-solving and leadership. Matthew's journey epitomizes the spirit of growth and evolution at Midwest Machine, embodying the company's commitment to excellence and continuous improvement. Outside of work,  he enjoys playing bad golf, cheering for The Dallas Cowboys, and spending quality time with his family.

Terry Davis

Project Engineer

With 40 years of experience in the beef industry-leading production teams and project management, Terry brings knowledge that can help improve the process from an ergonomic, safety, and labor-saving perspective. He is passionate about innovation and looking for a better way to get the work done. Terry’s responsibilities will include equipment sales to the beef, pork, and poultry industry as well as customer support, custom production solutions, and project management. Away from work, he enjoys spending time on the golf course or at the lake with family.

Itzel Martinez

Operations Manager

Originally from Spearman, Texas, Itzel relocated to Amarillo in 2014, where she obtained her dental hygiene license in 2017. Joining Midwest Machine in 2018, she swiftly ascended to the role of Operations Manager,  assuming a diverse array of responsibilities crucial to the company's success. In her capacity as Operations  Manager, Itzel orchestrates pivotal functions ranging from payroll operations and HR duties to outbound shipping logistics and parts sales. Her multifaceted role extends to encompassing new employee onboarding,  safety training, and ensuring compliance with DOT regulations. Itzel's adeptness at building rapport with clients, coupled with her meticulous attention to detail and exemplary time management skills, underpin her success in navigating the dynamic demands of her position.

Kent Dixon

Business Development

Kent earned his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech and initially embarked on his career as a design engineer in the defense sector. In 1997, he transitioned into sales and has since held various roles, including selling PCB assembly machines, sheet metal fabrication equipment, industrial robots, and custom automation systems. Kent focuses on helping manufacturing operations streamline processes, reduce costs, and enhance automation. Outside of his professional life, Kent enjoys woodworking, hunting, fishing, and playing golf.
